I booked the Pettifers for 1 night to celebrate my wife birthday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the Smiling Receptionist to the Chirpy barstaff We had a classic double room with Breakfast The room is a little dated but plenty of Tea & Coffee and plenty of milk sachets. We booked a Table for 1900 but as we were already in the bar having a cosy drink I asked if we could change the time and my request was granted 😅 I am a Indian foodie and love spicy food and we had a wonderful Meal e opted for popadoms and they were crispy as they should be My starter was Squid and had a very big portion well worth the money i opted for a Ruby Murry as the do have quirky name for some of the Main dishes a lamb Jalfrazi the lamb was very succulent and very tasty Mushroom rice &Nan bread .My wife had Lamb Birthday suit and once again very tasty.I have to mention the the staff as they were all very helpful and Cheerful 😊 Following morning for breakfast ones again great by a lovely waitress who showed us to the table We were offered Tea and coffee also fresh juice the breakfast was a full breakfast and toast .To finish my review I have to say we had a brilliant time and Throughly enjoyed staying here 😀 i would recommend it for For a relaxing weekend break .My Birthday in.May every possibility we will be Back

Good location for visiting local towns. Hotel needs refurbishment, otherwise it was good. Service at mealtimes could have been better.

Great staff, great downstairs with great bar and garden and good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Downside; Dated feel to decor upstairs and in rooms. No lift. Not a problem for us but a no-no for elderly and infirm to access rooms. In our room; huge step up into bathroom. Again, a big problem for infirm or indeed anyone at night and unfamiliar with room layout. Noisy plumbing. When toilet flushed pipes 'sang' for many minutes. Turning on taps to wash hands made noise worse. We just didn't flush toilet after 2200 so as to not annoy rooms next door, above and below - it was THAT noisy!. Had absolutely no hot water for two night stay. Arrived late first night and went out early so no chance to shower or even mention that problem first night. Shower was just a trickle also. On check-out mentioned lack of hot water. Response; "hotel is very full this weekend so that's why there was no hot water". I can accept dated decor, dated and worn carpets, narrow stairs up to the room and weird steps up into the bathroom but.....I don't accept and I am not happy to pay £110 a night - regardless of how great the staff and breakfast was - to hear that as an excuse. It's 2024, not 1954 or 1879. Sadly, cannot recommend or will return - in spite of great staff, bar and breakfast.

We only stayed for food on the way home from Bristol but they had incredibly friendly staff and brilliant food - very fast and attentive service and a beautiful little country pub. Dog friendly and peaceful with lovely interior and furniture.

We needed to stop somewhere for lunch, while travelling down to Wiltshire, and even though it was late in the afternoon, the Chef and staff couldn't have been more helpful. The bacon and brie sandwiches were lovely served with fresh salad and crisps. as was the coffee and tea. We will definitely stop there again the next time we are passing

We've just returned from a lovely 4-day wedding anniversary break at Pettifers Hotel. The hotel was just perfect for us. Very dog friendly, and the staff were very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and gave us a good start to each day (even our westie Barney got a sausage every morning). Our room was a great size with a very comfortable bed and en-suite shower. The location was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds area and easy to get to Bath, Cheltenham and Bristol. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and will definitely be returning.

Had a great evening with good friends, 17 covers in total. Waitress staff were attentive. All the food arrived about the same time and hot. I have only one complaint. We paid the bill which we were all happy with but at 10.00 the lady behind the bar said last orders and we needed to drink up and at 10.30 shutters came down and all the lights were turned out. Even two residents were sat in the dark. Really spoiled the evening. We weren't rowdy or being a nuisance, but did feel hassled to leave when closing times are advertised as 11.00p.m. I can't imagine how the two residents felt!

Disappointing dinner. Very overpriced for the quality. Hair in one meal. Risotto was bland & could have made better myself. Sticky cauliflower had no sauce. Service was pleasant but very slow given there was only one other table in.

Visited for New Year’s Eve with family. Reasonably priced, family friendly, polite staff, dogs allowed, good food and ambiance. Visited again for supper on a Saturday, food and service consistently good. So good that I called in again for coffee in the morning.

A birthday treat for my wife. The hell it was! Telephoned direct and enquired about a Saturday night stay, explaining as a well needed break and birthday surprise for my wife. Paid by card there and then asking price £126.00 for the one night in a larger double room. Given room 14. Lady at reception explained there was a noisy dehumidier in the room next door to us as it was damp and she would come up and switch it off. Still going... The room was very cold, radiater was off, we sat on the bed for a bit and looked at one another thinking the same thing. It was really poor and for the amount of money, it was called "taking the piss". Several screws and nails sticking out the wall. Carpet not fitting, thread sticking up all round the edges. Dirt smears on the walls. I paced the actual room size (excl the hall to the entrance door) and roughly 8ft by 12ft. LOL as they say The ensuite was another disappointment, public hair on the mirror, dirt round the shower knob, sink tap not cleaned 100 percent, door with bleach splashed all over it, filth round edges and skirting... £126.00 a night remember! At no stage did anyone say "oh by the way, happy birthday". Nice food and service in dining room. After food I ordered two coffees and two brandies. Coffee arrived but no brandy - "sorry i forgot about it and I'm not sure if was added to the hill or not" she said?! After this was told can't add the dinner bill to hotel bill to pay all extras in one go, had to pay straight away as it was explained a separate business. We left at checkout time in the morning and no one in reception area, left the key on the counter, no one spoke. I drove home thinking of all the places we could have stayed for that money. Wow!

Went here for a post-walk drink. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Cloudy cider? Thatchers Haze. Happy Days! Very luxurious surroundings. Loved the velvet sofas. Polar Bear head on the wall very quirky. Left my phone behind, so don’t have photos sorry.

Customer service at Pettifers is fantastic! Everyone was lovely and kind, you’ll definitely be looked after! Unfortunately we only stayed one night as the hotel was half way to our destination, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. One thing I would say is maybe give the wall a little wipe, otherwise it’s a perfect little hotel! :) would stay longer in the future!

The Rooms were of terrible quality, dated and in need of a lot of work, nothing at all like the pictures on the site. The Hotel Lounge was better, nice seating, nice breakfast and good service.

We arrived to a lovely, warm welcome which was very much appreciated. Everyone was so friendly and attentive which made our 3 night stay most enjoyable! We are planning another visit, in the not too distant future. Looking forward to seeing Frank and Lynne again.

Don't know whether I should be bothered in writing a review as the negative comments do not seem to be answered! However, have to say that the website for this hotel does not match the actual hotel itself. Very disappointing after booking from the website. Definitely needs a woman's touch, one who actually cares about the business! Windows need cleaning, everyware is dusty and has cobwebs hanging, particularly in the breakfast room. The breakfast was OK although the service was very slow and the food average. The staff need some direction in how to dress tidely, perhaps some sort of uniform with name badges. Our room which was No2 was outdated and needed a coat of paint. The headboard was loose so everytime you sat or got into bed it banged against the wall. The bathroom was damp and the taps need repairing so you can identify hot from cold also needs a new shower head. Did not eat in the restaurant as the prices outwayed the ambience and we were not confident in the quality. The bar needs to ensure it is stocked properly and the prices need ammending. Could be a nice hotel with some updating and cleaning.
